Charlie was born in Stockholm, Sweden in 1978.
After attending music school at Musicians Institute in Los Angeles in his early twenties, he decided he also wanted to become better at drawing and painting.
Charlie had high expectations and aspirations but was highly dissatisfied with the available art school programs where classical training was considered obsolete.
He turned to the works of the great artists such as Velasquez, Singer Sargent, Rembrandt, Titian and others.
“These guys were the true heroes of painting, so I started studying their work and became their student”.
The artists sensitivity to beauty, abstract brushwork, colour, form and subtlety express an evocative, enigmatic and seductive style of painting.
The craftsmanship is essential to his work, hence the reason he incorporates the priming of his own supports and grinding his own paints.
Charlie’s work features landscapes, figurative work and portraiture reminiscent of dutch tronies etc.
He is currently working on a more intuitive style of painting where mood and atmosphere are key factors.
Charlie has studied art at the Gerlesborg School of Art in Stockholm.
His work has been included in various group exhibitions and solo shows throughout Europe as well as the U.S.
Charlie currently lives and works in Los Angeles, California.
